About us

Northern Tigers

Northern Tigers are a Manchester based kung fu school that teaches Lau Gar kung fu and Chinese Lion Dance. We provide both public classes and workshops / displays for schools and private organisations.

The classes are taught by Michael Townsend who holds the rank of 3rd degree black sash in Lau Gar and is qualified to teach Tai Chi and kickboxing.

Michael has been teaching since 2004.

Michael is in turn regularly taught by two of the Lau Gar Guardians; Sifu David Eccles and Sifu Steven Burton.

Michael is also a Level 1 Self Protection Instructor in Geoff Thompson's system and a KEWAP Instructor.
